Trinity Baptist Church Covenant
Having read the constitution and by-laws of this church and having been led, as I believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior and give myself wholly to Him, and upon profession of my faith, having been baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, I do now in the presence of God most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with this local assembly, as one body in Christ.
I promise, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together with this assembly in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, disciplines and doctrines; to attend its services; to contribute cheerfully and regularly through the tithe for the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all the nations.
I further promise, therefore, to watch over my brothers and sisters in Christ in brotherly love, and faithfully warn, exhort, and admonish them as occasion may require; to recognize my brother’s and sister’s liberty of conscience in Christ and not judge them in a thing not commanded by God; to remember them in prayer; to aid the brethren in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian compassion and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the commands of our Savior to obey them without delay. Should I stray from the commands of Scripture, I agree to, and invite, the correction and admonishment of the elders.
I also promise to maintain family worship and personal devotions; to raise my children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord; to seek the salvation of kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in my dealings, faithful in my engagements, and exemplary in my conduct; to avoid all gossip, backbiting, divisiveness, immorality, and excessive anger; and to be zealous in my efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
I moreover promise that when I remove from this place, I will as soon as possible unite with another church of like faith and practice where I can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
