Greetings in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ, and welcome to the web site of Trinity Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Trinity is a reformed Baptist Church affiliated with both the Southern Baptist Convention and the Association of Reformed Baptist Churches of America. We are dedicated to the proclamation of God’s amazing grace, the strengthening and equipping of His disciples, and the worship of His holy and fearful Name. We strive to please our Lord by cultivating a high love for Him and by obeying Him in holiness and service. God reveals Himself to us infallibly in His Scriptures, and He calls us to search His Scriptures as our only standard in all matters of doctrine and practice. We believe that He calls us to preach Christ crucified, to worship Him in song and in the sacraments, to pray corporately and privately, to teach the strong meat of Scripture, to serve one another with humility, and to bring the gospel to the lost. Our hope as a church is to grow in obedience in all these areas and to stay focused on our chief purpose, bringing honor to our wonderful and faithful God. |

Join Us For Our Sunday Afternoon Study Sunday Afternoon at 5:00 p.m. Our current study series is: What the Bible Teaches About Angels Tim Challies writes: Time magazine got it right, "For those who choke too easily on God and his rules...angels are the handy compromise, all fluff and meringue, kind, nonjudgemental. They are available to everyone, like aspirin. Only in the New Age would it be possible to invent an angel so mellow that it can be ignored." My local newspaper contains constant advertisements for guides who can help any sufficiently gullible person to get in touch with angels. A Time poll found that 69 percent of respondants confirmed their belief in the existence of angels, 46 percent acknowledged their belief in a personal guardian angel and 32 percent claimed to have felt an angelic presence at some time in their lives. As the magazine says, many people who have no use for God and for His rules, have an obsession with angels, which they deem to be much more loving and gentle. |
